We knew this was gonna happen again at some point, but it looks like that point is now. I'm starting to run low on the dough again and I gotta start making more. So my plan is to find some freelance work and build up a bit more money. After that I'll start back up again! I'll be sure to post every week here still, though it will more likely be empty posts saying I haven't spent much time working on the game. Either way it isn't over, it's just a "break". See you again next week!
More art stuff done! I've wanted to re-re-do the main collision sprite sheet, but I've spent so much time on it that I think I should stop (as much as I don't want to). Along with that, I've ripped parts out of the fake screenshot (screenshot here) and I'll put them in the game once I have a few other parts put together! So we got back our surveys! And from them we learned the game is too difficult and at times is too slow. So now the plan is to change the speed a bit, and get better at level design!
Along with that, I plan to do some more artwork and get a bunch of that done as soon as possible. That will probably be all of next week. Two in one this week! But this post will be a little different than the last one. So I think I said a while ago I worked at a company called Volition. Well, while at that company I helped make a game called Agents of Mayhem and it comes out tomorrow! Because of that I'll be streaming myself playing it instead of working on "Save The Hero!". So next week's work post may be a bit bare. If you wanted, you can watch at twitch.tv/joltjab.
We got a playtest! With a bit of info and a "game" to DOWNLOAD, we have up a working playable version for anyone who wants to try it out! Currently it's only for windows, but eventually it will be on the phone.
There's also A SURVEY that really helps add to the game. Plus if you played the game and fill it out, you can get your name in the credits! This week (actually starting at the end of a Friday, July 28) was all about a game jam called the Ludum dare. In this one, you spend 3 days straight making a game, and then you can show it off! For me, after it was finished I decided it would be a good idea to play a bunch of other game jam games. Think of it like a break from Save The Hero. So now that it's over I'll be starting up again on Monday to work on Save The Hero!
Nothing too interesting for last week, just updating things and trying to optimize the game. Hitting a few snags but I'll be sure to get it fixed.
I was trying to make the game frame rate independent, but I may need to save that for a different time. But I'll be coming back to it eventually. |
