Alright everyone, here's our first monthly update!
Let's talk a little about what's been accomplished, and what I plan on accomplishing by next month! First, what was accomplished.
There's music in the game now!
As you know I've been learning how to make music for a while. But I haven't just been watching videos, but before I made the music in the game I made a couple more practice songs!

After making those songs I tried to use what I learned in the game's song (like for example, the echo effect from "sunglasses on a jellyfish")! And though I'm happy with what I made, I feel I have so much to learn before I can make songs I'd be willing to call "good songs". But what I've made I'm content with.
However,
The thing I think is really cool are the programmy effects I've added to it!! It's 2 things. 1st, when the wizard shows up on screen the music transitions to a "wizard version" of the song in a seamless way. the 2nd thing I really like is how the music slows to a stop when you smack your face on a wall! It was super simple to add in but it makes a big impact (pun not intended)!

Also there were a few silly moments while making songs.
A few Wizardly updates!
Just a few tiny things here and there. The wizard "searches" for you when he's off screen but still close to you.
He also looks right at you when he's taunting! The cheeky sandwich stealer!... Cheeky? That seems weird to say, but screw it I'm sticking by it! The wizard is cheeky!!!!
There was also a few late nights while working on things. Looking back at this I'm laughing pretty hard, but I have no memory of what I was talking about. (this is a little old, but I still think it fits here)
New UI stuff!
That's right, working pause menu buttons! Ooh they came out great! But what's also cool about them is they will adjust their position if you scale up or down the game. It will work no mater what screen size you got!... hopefully...
Which brings us to our next thing.

This is what I was working on last. It isn't done yet, but it will be soon. It's got placeholder art and buttons that don't do anything, but they'll work well and look good in no time!
We especially got to get that zoom button up and working. ZoOoOoOoM!!!
Plans for next month!
So that's it for this month. It's time to start getting ready for the next month!
So there's something I want to say before hand though. I'm bad at making things quickly. I tend to obsess over tiny things and be a perfectionist. Because of that, I've been moving at a snail's pace. That's why I got help from some friends who are A LOT better than me at getting things done quickly!
I talked with them and told them all the things I still need to do. They helped me with setting up a list of things to do and when to get them done by. So with that, here's next week's plan.
The main thing about this month is; it's about gameplay not art. We need to get things working, not looking pretty. Looking pretty is something for a different month. This month we make it function! And the first function is skill items.
It's gonna be good. The thing I'm the most excited for is the skill items! Currently in the game you can find keys and use them to open chests. But currently the chests don't give you anything special. THAT ALL CHANGES THIS WEEK! I'm talking wizard vacumes, time stops, special jumpy crystals and several more abilities you can use and shoving them right into those chests! You can hold up to 3 at a time, but if you get another chest it gives money. But what do you do with that money? Well I'm glad you asked!
Come one come all to the STH in game store! We got your skill items, your fancy effects, and (if I have the time to add it) more music and animations! This will be the place to spend all your hard earned coins you've gained through your runs! Buy extra skills to help get you even farther, or effects to make the game even cooler when you play!
So besides those things there will be little other things like, clean up the rest of the pause menus, add better UI for crystal and coin collect, etc. . If all goes to plan you should see all these things in a month from today!
